Welcome & Philosophy
This page introduces who I am, how I work, and what you can expect from the care I provide.
My approach is calm, structured and collaborative — combining medical understanding with emotional attunement to support meaningful and sustainable change.
Introduction
About me
My name is Dr Kate Law, and I’m a consultant psychiatrist providing private telehealth care to patients aged 17 and above.

My clinical background began in nursing, working night shifts in paediatrics while completing my medical degree at the University of Western Australia. After graduating, I worked at Fremantle and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospitals before beginning specialist training in psychiatry. During this time, I worked across Perth’s mental health services and spent a year in the Kimberley region.

I started my private telehealth practice to create a sustainable model of care that aligns with my natural working style and allows me to provide thoughtful, unhurried care, while also maximising the time I can spend with my family.

Outside of work, I thoroughly enjoy being a mum to my young son. I still find joy in the playful things, like kids’ movies, petting zoos, escape rooms and board-game nights. I also love reading, true-crime podcasts, coffee and weekends away with my family. I'm an animal lover, and my corgi firmly believes he’s in charge of the household.
My approach
How I work
I provide thoughtful, individualised, high-quality psychiatric care that combines medical expertise with emotional attunement. My aim is to help you understand yourself, support your wellbeing, and build lasting change at a sustainable pace.

My approach is:
-
Individualised: Every person’s story is different, and your care reflects that.
-
Spacious: Appointments are designed with enough time to think, reflect, and plan together.
-
Collaborative: We make decisions together, ensuring care aligns with your values and life circumstances.

I bring together insights from medicine, psychotherapy and neuroscience to help you make sense of complex symptoms and understand how mind, body and environment interact. I believe that clarity and safety come from structure — through clear boundaries, transparent policies, and a steady rhythm of care.

I value medication as a tool when thoughtfully prescribed and always within a broader plan that fosters understanding, agency and relational healing.

I see patients as the experts on their own experiences. Together, we'll develop a clear and personalised understanding of your unique story. From there, my role is to help you find the path forward while supporting you in reconnecting with authenticity, awareness, and self-trust.

Are we a good fit?

Choosing a psychiatrist is an important decision. Most people see their psychiatrist regularly over the long term, so finding someone whose approach and working style feel right for you is essential.
My practice is designed to provide high-quality, sustainable care, allowing me to show up with the authenticity, presence and dedication each person deserves. I offer appointments exclusively by telehealth and don’t provide inpatient treatment or urgent crisis support between sessions.

My approach is built on openness, honesty and shared responsibility. I work best with people who are curious and engaged, actively work on agreed plans, and are respectful of the structured framework that supports safe and effective care.

If you are looking for care that is fast-paced, low in detail, or exclusively medication-based, I may not be the right fit for you. However, if you appreciate clarity, structure, authenticity, and a slower, more thoughtful pace, we could be a great therapeutic match.
